The Matelassé translates Chanel’s signature quilting — the pattern of the 2.55 bag — into a wristwatch, making it one of the house’s defining designs of the 1990s. The diamond quilting flows uninterrupted from case to bracelet, lending the steel a softness it has no right to possess.

The case and bracelet are stainless steel. The black dial carries the same quilted lines, with no numerals or markers — only two hands moving quietly across the pattern. A black cabochon caps the crown, a small, precise Chanel gesture.

In the hand, the quilted links articulate smoothly and settle closely around the wrist. This is a piece with the presence of a bracelet first and a watch second — jewellery that happens to keep time. The black dial sits naturally against monochrome dressing or bare skin.

As a vintage piece, it shows signs of use: light scratches and wear on the case and bracelet, and age-related corrosion on the hands. Please review the photographs carefully and choose this piece only if you appreciate it as part of its vintage character.
