Seiko Quartz 1400-5270
Less a watch than a piece of goldwork — from the era, through the 1970s and 80s, when Seiko made jewellery watches with real care. Pre-owned, in good condition with no notable marks.
The case is octagonal, each facet angled to catch light from a different direction. At three and nine o’clock, a small shell-like fluted ornament. A great deal of form, packed into a very small case.
The bracelet is openwork: bundled gold lines that part into two strands and meet again. Because the skin shows through, all this gold never looks heavy. The champagne dial carries slim baton markers and two hands — not even a seconds hand. A quiet kind of decisiveness.
Everything sits in a single tone of gold, so it layers naturally with the gold you already own — a fine chain bracelet, a stack of rings.
Glancing out from under a cuff, it might not be read as a watch at all. That is rather the point.
Material: Gold-tone metal
Period: 1970s–80s
Case size: Approx. 2cm × 2cm
Wrist size: Approx. 16cm
Movement: Quartz
Dial: Champagne gold with baton markers
Condition: In good vintage condition with no notable marks. Tested and confirmed running at the time of dispatch. As a vintage quartz watch, the battery may shift out of position during transit due to vibration, causing the watch to pause temporarily. In most cases, reseating the battery or replacing it will restore function. Please purchase only if you are comfortable with the characteristics of vintage timepieces.
