Vintage Omega De Ville Cut Glass Watch

Closer to jewellery than to a watch. Among the Omega De Ville models of the 1960s–70s, this reference with its cut-glass bezel is one of the most beautiful in the way it takes light.

The case measures approx. 18mm. The glass surrounding the dial is faceted like a gemstone, and each time you tilt your wrist, the rim scatters small points of light like a prism. The silver dial carries nothing but slender baton markers — the ornament is left entirely to the glass, and the dial stays quiet. That restraint is the elegance of this piece.

Inside is the automatic Cal.661, introduced in 1963 and the workhorse of Omega’s ladies’ automatics of the era. It keeps time not by battery, but by the motion of your wrist.

The bracelet is a fine stainless steel mesh (aftermarket). Its slim ends join the case through ring links, and on the wrist it settles in almost like a bracelet rather than a watch band.

A glimpse of silver at the cuff — and the small gesture of checking the time becomes part of how you dress.
