The Nantucket was designed in 1991 by Henri d’Origny as a companion to the Cape Cod. Its case is a “rectangle within a rectangle” — a frame of half-links drawn from the Chaîne d’ancre, the anchor-chain motif Robert Dumas created for Hermès in 1938. The result is a watch that sits on the wrist more like a piece of jewellery than a timepiece.

The slim stainless steel case holds a silver dial with the distinctive stylised Arabic numerals born of the Chaîne d’ancre universe. Its elongated proportions settle gracefully on even a slender wrist, and the navy leather strap with white saddle stitching carries the quiet signature of a house that began in harness-making.

Less a watch, more one final piece of jewellery. Against a jacket cuff or bare summer skin, the pairing of navy and silver simply belongs.
