Micromosaic is an Italian technique in which tiny pieces of colored glass are carefully set one by one to form an image. Developed in Roman workshops from the 17th century onward, it later became especially popular during the Grand Tour of the 18th and 19th centuries, when travelers chose micromosaic jewels as refined souvenirs of their cultural journeys. Monumental mosaic decoration was transformed into intimate, portable works of art through the precision and patience of skilled artisans.

“Adelina” features a gentle natural motif rendered in subdued tones. From afar, it reads as a single harmonious image; up close, the intricate placement of countless tesserae becomes visible. This density of detail creates a quiet sense of depth.
