Vintage Floral Motif Earrings

Vintage earrings centred on a softly citrus cabochon, encircled by a halo of delicate rhinestones. Small in scale yet finely worked — a piece that brings a gentle light to the ear.

What makes these earrings particular is the meeting of cabochon and rhinestone. A cabochon is a stone polished into a domed form rather than faceted — the soft citrus tone  shifting subtly as the angle changes. Unlike a faceted stone that snaps light back sharply, a cabochon holds light from within, revealing a softer kind of glow. That inner-lit quality is the cabochon's particular beauty.

Around it, tiny rhinestones are set at even intervals. The brighter spark of the rhinestones draws out the cabochon's softer sheen — two different qualities of light held side by side, lending real expression to such a small form. The silver-tone setting underscores the translucency of the centre, and the whole reads as composed rather than sweet.

The fittings are French hooks — earrings made to sway lightly as you move. The curve of the hook follows the ear naturally, settling in without weight. There is no maker's stamp, but the attention paid to every detail is unmistakable — the kind of considered craftsmanship that vintage costume jewellery does so well.
