Vintage SEIKO Bracelet Watch, Gold Dial

A small watch, built to sit lightly. The case measures barely two centimetres across, so it reads less as an instrument than as a piece of jewellery that happens to keep time — the kind of watch you forget you are wearing until someone asks the hour.

SEIKO has made quartz movements with quiet precision for decades, and this one still keeps good time, tested and running before it leaves us. The gold-tone case holds a soft champagne dial, plain but for slim baton markers — a face that competes with nothing else on the wrist. It comes on a two-tone bracelet band, a later replacement rather than the original strap, its openwork links catching gold and silver as the hand moves.

Worn, it almost disappears: weightless, close to the skin, the small dial drawing the eye without asking for it. It slips easily under a shirt cuff and layers well with a fine chain. Nothing about it is loud.

A watch for someone who likes their time told quietly — and who finds, in something already worn by years, a kind of ease that new things rarely have.
