Cartier Panthère MM Two-Row (Stainless Steel × 18K Yellow Gold, 2003, Box & Papers)

Born in 1983, the Panthère is the Cartier that most deserves the phrase “jewellery that happens to tell the time.” Its supple, articulated bracelet was named for the way it moves like a panther’s stride, and it became one of the defining watches of the eighties and nineties. Production ended around 2004, and even after the 2017 revival, pieces from the original era hold a presence of their own.

This example was made around 2003, in the final years of the original run. A stainless steel case with an 18K yellow gold bezel, and two rows of gold running through the bracelet. A white dial with Roman numerals, blued-steel sword hands, a discreet date at five o’clock, and a blue cabochon set into the crown.

What makes the Panthère special is, above all, how it feels on the wrist. The fine links flow and flex with every movement — closer to wearing a bracelet than a watch. The balance of steel and gold is beautifully judged: quieter than solid gold, yet unmistakably warm against the skin.

The guarantee card (dated 24 August 2003), inner box, and one spare link are included. The exterior has been professionally refinished and the watch is very clean overall, though there are scratches on the bezel and case sides — please refer to the photos for details. Since the model’s revival, original-era Panthères have been steadily re-appreciated. A piece chosen for someone who intends to keep it for a long time.
