Vintage Violet Ring

A vintage ring with a large violet marquise-cut zirconia at its centre, flanked on either side by three baguette-cut clear zirconias arranged in a fan. The composition recalls the spirit of antique jewellery — a quietly regal piece that brings considered presence to the hand.

What makes this ring particular is the use of contrasting cuts, drawn together by the assurance of its composition. The central violet stone is a marquise — a spindle shape — set with its long axis running along the finger. Marquise cuts have a directional brilliance that draws the eye into a single point. To either side, the baguette-cut clear zirconias (long rectangular cuts) open outward in a fan, leading the gaze inward toward the centre. No single stone shines alone — the whole reads as one decorative composition, very much in the design philosophy of antique jewellery.

The setting is silver 925 with a 22KGP gold finish — two metals crossing in a single piece. The prongs holding the central stone are accented by tiny rhinestones, drawing further light up to the main stone. The deep colour of the violet, the clear flash of the surrounding stones, the warmth of the gold, the quiet sheen of the silver — many materials and tones meeting in one piece, yet held together with composure rather than noise. That cohesion is the strength of the architecture.

Sourced from England, the piece carries the unmistakable air of European classical decoration. Sized at JP17 (EU57 / US8) — somewhat larger by Japanese sizing — it sits well on a middle or index finger, or on a man's little finger. Worn with a knitted top and denim, the contrast between casual dress and decorative ring lets the ornament come quietly to the fore.
