Rooted in the mosaic tradition of Rome, this vintage micromosaic pendant from the 1960s–70s carries forward a centuries-old craft in an intimate scale.

Micromosaic is created by arranging tiny pieces of colored glass, one by one, into a detailed image. Emerging in Rome from the 17th century onward, the technique evolved from monumental architectural decoration into small, portable works of art. During the Grand Tour era, travelers to Italy chose micromosaic jewellery as refined keepsakes—objects that held culture, memory, and artistry in miniature form.

“Amalia” features a gentle botanical motif rendered in softly toned glass. The tesserae are meticulously set, each fragment contributing subtle variations in color and surface. From a distance, it reads as a unified image; up close, the density of handwork becomes visible, revealing quiet depth.
