A watch whose dial is laid entirely with Australian opal — deep blues and greens, with the occasional spark of red, like wearing a small jewel on the wrist.

The case is round, finished entirely in gold plating. Roman numerals from I through XII are engraved around the bezel, giving the watch the presence of a piece of jewellery. At the centre of the dial, an eagle motif with the word “EAGLE”, QUARTZ at six o’clock, and below it the inscription “AUSTRALIA OPAL”.

Opal is a stone defined by its play of colour — its hues shift with the angle of light. With each small movement of the wrist, green runs through the blue, red appears within the green. The dial itself becomes a small jewel; a true jewellery watch.

The strap is black croc-embossed leather. Its matte texture lets the gold of the case and the colour of the dial speak.

Watches with dials of Australian opal were a category developed largely by Australian makers through the 1970s and 80s. Each piece carries its own face — no two opals shift light in quite the same way.
