Vintage Kramer Pastel Floral Earrings

Vintage earrings layering two flowers — a peach-pink and a soft blue — with pale green leaves above. Made by the American costume jewellery house KRAMER, the piece reads like a small bouquet at the ear, built from delicate enamelwork and dimensional construction.

What makes these earrings particular is the enamelwork and the layering of multiple motifs into one form. Each petal has been hand-coloured with enamel — the peach-pink flower lighter at its centre and deeper toward the edges, the blue flower carrying a similar inward-to-outward gradation. The leaves are layered in pale green enamel, and the small shadows formed between the flowers and leaves give the piece a depth that flat surfaces cannot. Some patina is visible in the enamel, but it adds to rather than detracts from the soft vintage character of the work.

At the centre of each flower sits an aurora borealis rhinestone — a thin iridescent layer applied to the back of the stone — was a finish particularly favoured in 1950s–60s vintage jewellery, releasing pinks, greens, and blues as light moves across it. Within the matte tones of the enamel, these small AB stones glint as fine points of colour, marking gentle accents through the composition.

Kramer, founded in New York and active from the 1940s through the 70s, was a costume jewellery house known for the quality of its construction — so much so that Dior chose them to produce its American licensed pieces. That standard of finish is unmistakably present here.

The fittings are clip style, with the firm hold characteristic of Kramer. Worn, the earrings bring a small bouquet of colour to the cheek. They sit beautifully with simple knits, white blouses, or quiet grey tops — outfits in restrained tones, where the pastel character of the piece can come quietly forward. Earrings to reach for on days when you want to ease the shoulders a little.
