A bright blue zircon like a tropical shallow caught in gold, flanked by fan-shaped platinum shoulders finished with delicate milgrain. The white stones on the shoulders are period glass, bead-set in platinum — a charming and honest signature of early twentieth-century craftsmanship.

What makes this ring truly special is that we know who made it. Inside the band sit the hallmarks of Joseph Lawrence, one of the most loved Early Australian jewellers, including his famous pretzel knot mark alongside stamps for 15ct gold and platinum. The 15ct standard itself was discontinued in the early 1930s, making these marks a reliable witness to the ring's age. Signed Early Australian pieces are keenly sought by collectors and rarely come to market.

There's a lovely thread here, too: Sarah of The Secret Compartment — who hand-selected this ring — once drove fifteen hours to the Queensland gemfields to dig for the very stones she loves most: sapphires and zircons. A century-old master's work, found by a true treasure hunter.
