Hermès Croisière CR1.220 (Stainless Steel / Gold Plated, White Dial)

A small memory of travel on the wrist. The Croisière — its name means a sea voyage in French — was born in 1983. The rectangular case, screwed at each of its four corners, takes its cue from the reinforced hardware of a travel trunk. The rounded corners soften the straight lines.

Hermès began in 1837 as a maker of harnesses and saddles, and that spirit of craft runs through its watches. Where Hermès most often uses Arabic numerals, this piece is unusual for its Roman index — black numerals set quietly across a white dial, composed and refined. The dial reads HERMES PARIS; the caseback carries the house’s carriage emblem.

The two-tone of steel and gold lends a quiet warmth to the wrist. The bracelet, built from linked H motifs, is Hermès design itself — not flashy, but silver and gold settling softly together. A quartz lightness, with the density only a vintage piece carries.

The slim, upright case settles naturally at the cuff of a shirt or the edge of a knit. It doesn’t overstate itself, yet it holds a clear sense of grace. It belongs at a considered occasion and on an ordinary day alike.

This is a vintage piece. The case, bracelet, and caseback carry the marks of time — surface wear and visible small scratches. It isn’t new, and doesn’t pretend to be. But something that still holds its composure after all these years carries a calm that new things don’t. If it feels right for where you are now, it’s an easy one to choose.

Tested and confirmed running at the time of dispatch. As a vintage quartz watch, the battery may shift out of position during transit due to vibration, causing the watch to pause temporarily. This is not a fault — reseating or replacing the battery will restore function. Please purchase only if you are comfortable with the characteristics of vintage timepieces.
