A wallpaper from 150 years ago, now resting quietly on your table each morning.

“Swan, Rush and Iris,” created in 1875 by the illustrator Walter Crane, is one of the earliest wallpaper designs of the Arts and Crafts movement. Two swans face each other in symmetry, surrounded by reeds and poised iris flowers. With its bold black outlines reminiscent of Greek vase painting and its clear blocks of color, the design feels simple at first glance—yet reveals a quiet depth the longer you look.

Crane later became the first president of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society. Within this design lives the spirit of 19th-century Britain—a time when artists sought to resist industrialization and return to the beauty of craftsmanship.

Crafted from tapestry fabric, this cosmetic bag is designed to hold everyday essentials—makeup, travel items, small personal objects—with quiet elegance. It carries the presence of something you might wish to display as art, while gently accompanying your daily rituals.

The language of iris

In Victorian England, iris symbolized “message,” “hope,” and “faith.” Its name comes from Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow, who moved between the gods and humanity as a messenger. For this reason, iris was often given as a flower carrying meaningful news and quiet hope.
