Seiko Quartz Gate Bracelet
A watch where the bracelet does the talking. It dates from the era around the 1980s, when Seiko was producing some of its most jewellery-minded ladies’ pieces. Pre-owned, in good condition with no notable marks.
The eye goes first to the large openwork links, tapering like drops of water, joined by small hourglass-shaped segments. The alternating rhythm of large and small recalls an antique gate bracelet.
The case is octagonal, with stepped shoulders at three and nine o’clock — a small case with a surprisingly sculpted profile. The champagne dial carries a fine vertical brushing, baton markers and two hands. Ornament where it counts, restraint everywhere else: the line is drawn precisely.
All that openwork makes it lighter than it looks; on the wrist, only thin lines of gold remain. A safety chain secures the delicate construction. It settles as easily against a shirt cuff as on bare skin.
