Less a watch than a piece of jewellery that happens to tell the time. The Cartier Tank, born in 1917, defined what a rectangular wristwatch could be — and the Tank Américaine, introduced in 1989, is its elongated, curved interpretation. The entire case arcs gently to follow the wrist, giving it a sense of fit that stands apart even within the Tank family.

The case is 18K pink gold — a quieter, warmer tone than yellow gold, one that settles naturally against the skin. A silvered grained dial with Roman numerals, blued-steel sword hands, and a faceted sapphire on the crown: the details Cartier has kept unchanged for a century, all present here.

At just 19mm wide, the SM size sits on the wrist more like a slender bangle than a watch. The black leather strap against the long gold case does its work quietly — a glimpse from beneath a shirt cuff is enough to bring an outfit together, with a jacket or a knit, in any season.

Produced around 2013, this piece comes with its guarantee card (dated 26 August 2013) and original box. There are faint scratches on the bezel, but the watch remains in very clean condition overall.
