Founded in New York in 1972, Carolee built its name on costume jewelry that didn't feel like a compromise — faux pearls and considered metalwork handled with enough care to hold their own alongside fine jewelry. The brand became known for pieces that dressed women with quiet confidence, and at their best, the craftsmanship shows.

This pair from the 1970s–80s is a good example of that. The circular gold form is deeply ridged in a sunburst pattern, radiating outward from a single costume pearl at the centre. The carved lines catch light differently depending on the angle, giving the surface a texture that reads as far more considered than it needs to be for a piece this size.

The pearl sits quietly at the centre without competing with the gold. Small enough for everyday, but with enough craft in the surface to hold attention up close.
