It belongs to the Must de Cartier line of the late 1970s and 80s — the collection with which Cartier opened its doors a little wider, without lowering its standards. The case is vermeil: solid sterling silver beneath a warm layer of gold. Not gold-plated base metal, but silver dressed in gold — a construction Cartier chose deliberately for this line.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat defines the Vendôme is its lugs. Instead of conventional horns, a rounded bar passes through a central loop on the case — a strap attachment Louis Cartier patented in 1934, revived here decades later. Seen from the side, the strap seems to flow straight through the watch. It is the detail that makes this small round case unmistakably Cartier.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe dial is ivory, framed by fine golden rings. Roman numerals mark the quarters, small lozenges the hours between, and two slim blued-steel hands carry a faint navy sheen that answers the blue cabochon set into the crown.
