A fan of feathers, opened and held still. The Peacock Kanzashi spreads its plumage in finely pierced metalwork — each feather cut through with openwork patterning, arranged in a crescent that recalls a peacock's display at the moment it unfolds. Two slender prongs anchor the piece in the hair, in the manner of a traditional Japanese kanzashi.

This is the meeting point of the collection: Istanbul's metalworking tradition, shaped by hand into a form that belongs to Japan's own culture of hair ornament. Designed and made by founder Esin Nalbantoğlu in her Karaköy atelier, the piece begins as a hand-carved form and is pierced, polished, and finished entirely by hand. The openwork is fine enough that light passes through it — worn in the hair, it casts a delicate lattice of shadow, so the ornament seems to move even when you are still.

Slid into a low chignon or a simply gathered knot, it turns the everyday act of putting up your hair into something closer to a small ceremony. It asks for no occasion; it makes one.

Of the five pieces in this capsule, the Peacock Kanzashi sits at the top — made for flemington vintage, and available nowhere else.
